Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It is a common mistake made that America had only "Black " slaves!. There were many Europeans sent here as indentured servants!. They had to work off the trip to America and also some were sent here because of debts and had to work them off!. Irish Immigrants were also thought of as lower than slaves!. The Japanese and Chinese were both used as slaves and many lost their live building our railroad system!. You also must remember there were Blacks who owned slaves!. One of the largest Plantation houses in the South was owned by a Free Black Woman!. Not all blacks were slaves it is just the way it has been potrayed in History books!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Because they were imported from Africa, where the people are black!. In order to acquire slaves, you have to either buy or capture them!. there was a plentiful supply of slaves from Africa!. By the time slavery in America began, slavery in Europe had pretty well died out, Europeans were not enslaving each other!. However, there were indentured servants, who although technically not slaves, because their term of servitude was limited, were in fact often treated as badly as slaves!. A quarter of them died before their indentured period was up!. I understand that attempts were made in the early history of Americ to enslave native Americans, but it was unsuccesful!.Www@QuestionHome@Com They Weren't all black!.!.!. =/ Only most of them!. they're was roman slaves,Chinese slaves and even Japanese slave!. But the word racist came from "black people" when we are all just humans!. You have to look at all the slaves not just black!. its just stupid to say ALL slaves were black only most in America because Africa gave the people away because they were in debt at the time so most of them were only black in America and no where else!.Www@QuestionHome@Com first of all black people were looked at as inferiors compared to any other light skin person!.pets were better treated than slaves back on those times !.!.!.anyways back in THE African continent there was conflicts among tribes !.!.so when an enemy tribe capture an enemy!.!.!.the Africans would sell the prisoner to who ever wants a slave!.why were blacks!.!.!.well in the Americas the colonist try forcing the Indians to work as slaves!.!.!. but due to the fact that Europeans brought plague to the unprotected Indians,,the indian population decrease and so die!.!.!.they were also weaker than black people!.!.!.!.thats why blacks were chosen as slaves!.!.!.!.Europeans were indenture servants who were provisionally slaves intill their due date expired then were set free like birds!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com They weren't!. We tried native Americans but they werent as big and strong and they had a nasty habit of just walking away at night because they could walk home!. Blacks couldn't swim home so they worked out much better!. also, if one did go missing he couldnt hide anywhere he was totally conspicuous!.Www@QuestionHome@Com I think there were others,we just don't here about it,like we do about the blacks!.
