Every third reference to the Hitler Youth is that they were all a bunch of lovable boy scouts dressed in lederhosen singing Bavarian Folk Songs in between helping elderly folk to cross the street!! !! Yes I am merely venting, I have given up all hope of anyone on this forum altering their warped perspective regarding such matters but truly there must be at least one boy scout in all of America who gets angry when being compared to a group of children indoctrinated in Nazi Philosophy taught to worship Adolf Hitler and trained to kill and in fact serving as killers as young as age 13 when they were part of the defense of Berlin in 1945!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Actually the Nazis disbanded the Boy Scouts in Germany in the 1930s to remove any competition with the Hitler Youth!.
The values of the Boy Scouts is a direct opposite to that of the Hitler Youth!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
actually, I think the BSA just lets it roll off their backs as most people don't see any similarity in the two!. Hitler youth were very good kids when it all started , but , like most Germans were duped and brainwashed into what they became by being convinced they were saving their country from an outside source real or imagined!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

As someone rather involved with Scouts Canada, I can tell you there is no connection seen today with the Scouting and the Hitler Youth!.
Yes, children in the Hitler Youth were used as a last ditch effort to defend Berlin as the Russians were moving in!.
But don't think of it like that!. Face the facts!. The capital of your country is being invaded and it's not going well for your side!. Defeat of your country is days away!.
Scouts here in Canada and America during the war were used for coastal defence and observation!. Defence in itself of our own homeland!.
AND, if you go to the very start of Scouting itself, in the defence of Mafiking, a very decisive battle in the Boer War, Lord Baden Powell, the father of Scouting world wide, employed young boys as Scouts and Runners!. The very creating of Boy Scouts was for military defence!.
So what's the big deal!? What's the difference!? History is written by the victor!. Only because Germany lost the war, the kids are judged for being in the Hitler Youth!. Boy Scouts in Germany did not exist under Hitler's command!. It was the Hitler Youth!. Same damn thing only different name!.
So give the kids a break!. They did nothing no other scout of any other country wouldn't do in that time in history under those circumstances!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
