Battle of Britain
Pearl Harbor
Atomic bomb

I′m so pathetic I don′t even know which of these are in the pacific!.!.!. the atomic bomb!?

Okay, I suck at everything, geography, history wise!.

I need one last oone out of:
Operation Barbarossa
Battle of coral sea
Battle of Midway
Battle of Kokoda
Battle of Stalingrad
D-Day June 6th
Fall of Berlin!.

I′m stupid, yes I know!.
lastly out of those, which two turning points (1 from pacific 1 from Europe) is the most significant and why!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I like to help with homework!. That's why I'm here!.

Out of the following turning points of WW2, I have to find 4, two from the pacific and two from Europe!.!.!. can someone tell me which last one I need to chose; I′ve chosen these so far:
Battle of Britain (Europe)
Pearl Harbor (Pacific)
Atomic bomb (Pacific)

OK, not bad!. Pearl Harbor actually was a turning point for Europe too since it got the U!.S!. into the war!. Winston Churchill was privately very happy when he heard about the Pearl Harbor attack!.

The 4th one to add is the "battle of Stalingrad" when the Russians started beating back the Germans!. The Russians did the vast majority of the fighting to defeat Hitler!. They took by far the most casualties and fought the largest part of the German army for four years!.

I′m so pathetic I don′t even know which of these are in the pacific!.!.!. the atomic bomb!?
Yes, the two atomic bombs were dropped on Japan in early August 1945!.

I need one last one out of:
Operation Barbarossa (Europe) - This was the German attack on Russia June 22, 1941 - Very important also - perhaps more so than the battle of Britain - - BUT the Battle of Britain was VERY important to the British, so it depends on your point of view!. History has many points of view that make it more interesting
Battle of Coral sea (Pacific) - lesser importance overall
Battle of Midway (Pacific) - important but not as key as some much larger battles
Battle of Kokoda (Pacific) - New guinea - - important to Australia but not a major turning point for the whole war!.
Battle of Stalingrad - This one was the MOST important
D-Day June 6th (Europe) - Very important, but not quite as important as Stalingrad in the overall picture!.
Fall of Berlin!. (Europe) - the war had been largely over by then)

Which two turning points (1 from pacific 1 from Europe) is the most significant and why!?
Battle of Stalingrad (Europe) - for reasons stated above
Pearl Harbor (Pacific) - without this the U!.S!. may have delayed much too long to help out in Europe
AND this was the incident that brought the full fury of the USA upon Japan!. After Pearl Harbor it was a mathematical certainty that the U!.S!. would defeat the smaller, less industrial nation over a period of time with much sacrifice on both sides!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

OK, firstly you are not pathetic, you only think you are!.
Out of the three that you have chosen:
The battle of Britain, Pearl Harbour, and the atomic attacks on Hiroshima, and Nagasaki!.
It was at the Battle of Stalingrad, that Hitlers eastward push ground to a halt into Russia, (Europe) It was here that tens of thousands of his troops died from the cold!.
And in the Pacific arena, the Battle along the Kokoda Track, was the most prolonged battle of WW2!. The first troops sent in were under equipped and dressed in desert fatigues!. The were also conscripts!. This battle was the first time that the Japanese Imperial Forces were beaten!. And finally turned back to Milne bay, and from there, eventually to Japan!. So I would change The atomic attacks to the Battle of Kokoda, because the atomic attacks were really unnecessary, Japan was beaten, all America had to do was blockade the Islands!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Europe
The battle of Britain, winning this battle the British stopped the German invasion of Britain by gaining superiority of the air!.
The battle of Stalingrad, probably the most important battle of ww2, the Russians defeat of the invincible 6th Army was the breaking of the Germans in Eastern Europe!.
Pacific
The battle of Midway, The US victory at Midway stopped the Japanese capturing a vital Island for refueling in the pacific!.
The Atomic bomb, the dropping of the bomb forced the Japanese to surrender and meant the US didn't have to invade the Japanese home Islands!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i'll go along with manofarms89!. the battle of the coral sea and the battle of midway a few weeks later were deninite turning points in the pacific!. the battle of stalingrad kept german troops tied up for over three years and they lost in the end!. operation barbarossa, if i remember correctly was the skeme that hitler used for his invasion of russia which was a disaster he got caught by the russian winter as napoleon had done a little more than a hundred years before!.a definite turning point!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If we were just to look at individual battles
1940 - The Battle of Britain - the first major loss of German forces
1942 - The Battle of El Alemain - the end of the road for German forces in North Africa
1942 - The Battle of Midway - four Japanese carriers sunk, the tide turned in the Pacific
1942 - Stalingrad - the Germans lost an entire army
1943 - The Battle of Kursk - the last major German offensive in the east - the Soviets maintained the momentum for the rest of the war
1944 - D-Day - the invasion of France - the war was to end less than one year later!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ok!.!.!.so you have chosen 2 pacific turning points and and one european, Pearl Harbour, contrary to what others might suggest was a real turning point in WW2, it brought the USA into the war, which eventually turned the tide both in europe and the pacific!. I would steer clear of the atom bomb and look at the battle of midway, this was a real turning point, the USA won this battle just as Japan was gaining the upper hand in the pacific, from here the japanese campaign faltered and it was the start of their demise!. The Battle of Britain is good so keep it!. D-Day is another obvious european turning point!.!.!.it speaks for itself, but there is loads on the net you shouldnt have trouble finding resourcesWww@QuestionHome@Com

its okay!.!.!. its very understandable that you find history boring!.!.!. anyway pearl harbor and the a-bomb are not turning points they're how the war was started and ended in the pacific!.!.!. the battle of midway and coral sea are definitely turning points in the pacific!. as for Europe!.!.!. battle of Stalingrad and d-day!.!.!. hope i helped!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

im surprised you or your teacher didnt include battles of El-Alamein and Guadalcanal!.
in all history books, Stalingrad, and El-Alamein are referred to as the turning points, and Guadalcanal was the turning point in the pacific, more than Midway was!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

just chill!. you're not dumb or pathetic because you don't like history!. okay, turning points!.

Europe:
1!.D-Day
2!. Battle of the Bulge

Pacific

You need one in the European theater!. I would select either the Battle of Stalingrad or D-Day, possibly even in place of the Battle of Britain, which is important but not quite the turning point of either of these two events!. Stalingrad was important because the Soviet Union was losing a great deal of casualties and with this battle the Soviets began an advantage on the Germans!. Plus, the last thing Hitler needed was a two front war, which cost them in WW1!. He thought that the Soviets were easy to take down and for the most part leading up to 1942 they were!. After this the Soviets undertook the offensive, which was fairly decisive in the Eastern Front!. D-Day--I think its self-explanatory!. The largest amphibian invasion in the history of civilization, the Americans and Britons finally invade Western Europe and liberate everything in between Normandy and Germany!. C'mon!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In Europe the Battle of Britain was the first and critical turning point!. The professional officers corps of Germany knew the was had become one of endurance and attrition, and depended on allies it did not have!. The Battle of Stalingrad made Germany's position hopeless, they lost too much machinery and too many man to ever stage a meaningful attack; after that they could only fight holding actions!. All German in command positions knew it!.

An interesting aside!. The Battle of Midway, a great sea battle, was the first sea battle fought "over the horizon!." The ships involved never saw one another!. ALL the fighting was lead by blind admirals that never saw the enemy!. Aircraft from each group flew out of sight from their own ships and fought unseen by their commanders!. This explains why looking back at the battle so many peculiar decisions were made!.

The Battle of Midway broke the main strength of the Japanese navy, especially in aircraft carriers!. Japan immediately started pulling back from it farthest extensions, hoping to be able to concentrate its remaining forces for enough of a defense to force meaningful negotiations (which the U!.S!. and it allies rejected) toward a peace that left Japan a major world power!.
The atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki ended the war in the Pacific!. Without the bombing the U!.S!. and its allies planned an invasion of the Japanese home island, expecting more than 1,000,000 dead Americans and multiples of that in Japanese!.

The critical turning point then in the Atlantic was Britain's surviving the Battle of Britain!.

In the Pacific Japan's unbearable losses at the Battle of Midway!. After both of these battles the final outcome was visible, but nobody thought Germany and Japan would be willing to take the suffering they did before "accepting the unacceptable!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am not going to do your homework for you, so I am not going to answer all of your questions!.

You should include the Battle of Stalingrad as the major turning point for the war in Europe!. Many people in the USA and the West, generally, don't know that most of WWII was simply Nazi Germany's war with Soviet Russia!. The forces engaged and the casualties suffered amounted to a majority of the military power and deaths of the war!. The Battle of Stalingrad was demoralizing to the Germans because they lost their strongest Army, the 6th Army!. It was surrounded, allowed to starve for a couple of months, then the remnants of it surrendered in late January, early February 1943!. It was 330,000 strong before the Stalingrad battle!. Only 90,000 were able to survive to surrender in 1943!. Only about 5000 of the original 330,000 managed to get back to Germany after the war!. The German military opened their own soldiers letters to study their morale and they found that, after Stalingrad, the average German soldier on the Eastern Front no longer believed in victory!.

You shouldn't waste time worrying about not being good at history!. No one is! I have a degree in history, and I know that the subject is much greater than the student!.

So, stop whining!

also, research is pretty easy on the internet!. Trouble yourself a bit and read a few articles!. Have the confidence to form an opinion and then have the diligence to offer a couple support arguments with a bit of citation!. Do not cry if the teacher points out a couple flaws in your arguments that you can drive a truck through!. Do not cry! Be strong!Www@QuestionHome@Com
