The swing has probably been around for centuries!. It's difficult to say which, as a toy like that was probably only used by lower class families, and therefore people didn't bother documenting there forms of leisure!.

I can imagine it being something used more in the Middle Ages, although this is just a wild guess!. Tie a rope to a branch, hold on, and let gravity do the rest!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would guess that the swing has probably existed in one form or another for many centuries!. Tying a rope to the branch of a tree and swining on it is something that people are likely to have always done for amusement!. I think the earliest representations in art of swings that I have seen are from the 18th century, but that doesn't mean that they didn't exist in earlier times!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

We didn't, someone else did!. I've never met you for starters!.!.!.

Oh, the pedantry!

I suppose a good point to choose would be when rope was invented!. After all, humans tend to be fairly playful and, no doubt, would quickly learn the fun to be had by swinging!. Even if such a 'swing' was just a piece of rope hanging from a tree, it would essentially have the same basic physical function as a modern children's swing!.

When was rope invented!.!.!. I have ABSOLUTELY no idea!Www@QuestionHome@Com
