I would not say there is one event is more important than the other!. I would say there are at least 3 and all of them are wars!. The first one would the American Revolution!. This is the birth of the country and set down what the United States wanted to be!. The second one would have to be the American Civil War!. This war changed the United States even further!. It strengthened the Federal Government and slightly weakened the states!. The third one would have to be World War II!. This pushed the United States onto the world stage for good!. It could not be forced to be isolationist anymore!. All three show the stages of this country; birth, growing pains and maturity!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When the U!.S!. Constitution was ratified in 1787!. It set the standards and the rights we hold dear and sometimes take for granted!. It not only molded the shape of our nation, but many other countries, based their constitutions on ours!. It is the fundamental law of the U!.S!. federal system of government and a landmark document of the Western world, and it is the oldest written national constitution in operation!. It is a living document, that could be changed, yet firmly cemented in its ways!. An example of this was the overturning of the D!.C!. gun ban!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Probably the American reveloution!. It is what formed the country, without it many of the other things that have happened since would have happened in a colony and the resalting decisions on what to do about them would have come from England!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Abandonment of Slavery!. It was such a shame to still have slaves after the Declaration of Independence!. Only the Abandonement made America credible as a beacon of freedom!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would say the American War of Independence 1776!.
The struggles, the Faith, and the unity of the people way back
then always impress me, and I am sure millions of Americans!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would say the inauguration of President George Washington!.
Country can't be ruled by comity, and we need one person to look to!.
Either that or when we created the A-bomb!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
