Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Well, consider The Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind, two huge movies both from 1939!.

The Wizard of Oz was in fact an allegory for the Progressive Era, and Hollywood's decision to adapt it into a movie reveals an interest in it!. The portrayal of the figures of Oz are rather fascist, with the Emerald City and Oz itself being almost deified in their portrayal!.

Gone with the Wind is all about government wreaking havoc with a family's idyllic life in the South, specifically the persona of Scarlett!. We are reminded that if the Civil War had not intervened to ruin Scarlett's fun, she would have spent her life being a coquette and enjoying her high society!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
