Turner's basic thesis is not all that controversial!. Westward expansion has clearly played the central role in the development of American culture and psyche, and very few historians would argue that it hasn't!?

What is controversial is the way that Americans went about that expansion, especially the genocide of the native population of the Americas!.

As to frontiers today, Space (the final frontier); medical and technological discoveries; eliminating racism, sexism and other prejudicies!. There will always be something Americans are striving for --- it's our basic nature!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
