The poor, like most people, weren't that interested in the high ideals and lofty sentiments that were supposed to inspire them to risk their likes in a very one sided battle against the world's super power!.

Many were fired up by propaganda speeches like those of Samuel Adams, by the promise of high pay in the army and the chance to benefit from what they saw as a relief from the high taxes of the British!.

Those who wanted to keep their heads down and stay out of the way were often intimidated by their friends and neighbours to make a bigger contribution!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

!. There were any number of reasons that motivated the colonists of all social - economic backgrounds to pick up arms against the mother country!. High taxes ( which were used to help defend the colonies against Indian attacks), the quartering act ( which allowed British soldiers to be quartered in any ones home with out permission of the owner), and Lord North and his policies which did everything to inflame the colonists!.Poor included!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

basically money, the wealthy of the USA started the revolution, they funded the Army which was good pay for the day!. I hear they had keggers at recruiting centers otherwise no one would show up and when you get drunk you will be easily swayed to sign enlistment for the military, Dutch CourageWww@QuestionHome@Com
