Question: What are the three most important books to read if I wanted to learn about Vietnam!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
THE best book I have EVER read about the Vietnam War from the earliest beginnings to the dreadful end was without a doubt "The Making of A Quagmire" by David Halberstam!.

This is a review I read;

Halberstam's Pultizer-Prize-winning eyewitness account of the most critical political period of American involvement in Vietnam is now used for classrooms!.
The Making of a Quagmire captures the story of the Diem/Kennedy era, and the fundamental misconceptions that governed American policy and the South Vietnamese perspective!.

This book was SO GOOD I gave it out for Christmas presents!
A MUST READ!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

One of them MUST be "365 Days" by Ronald Glasser!. I read this in high school and it was the most devastating thing I had ever encountered!. I actually had to stand up and stroll around the room in order to make it through the last part of the book!. Any politician even thinking about going to war should be forced to read it!. Other recommendations--
"Street Without Joy: The French Debacle in Indochina" by Bernard Fall

"Last Night I Dreamed of Peace: the Diary of Dang Thuy Tram" tells of the war from the other side--a North Vietnamese woman/doctor!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
