Ideology, they are Communists!. As for expecting any loyalty from countries the US fought for in WWII, France kicked our military out of their country in the 60's!. The same holds true for Kuwait!. who we helped not that long ago!. The same will happen in Iraq and Afghanistan!. To expect thanks from people the USA rescued, would be great, but history has shown otherwise!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It didn't have anything to do with helping North Korea!.

The UN forces ventured too close to the Yalu river, China's border with North Korea!.

There were plenty of warnings!. All unheeded!.

When UN forces moved away from the border, China withdrew!. Why, for instance, is North Korea today not simply a part of China!?

In fact, it was the Japanese invasion and occupation of Manchuria and subsequent quest to conquer China before and during WWII that spurred a change to Chinese defence thinking!. Allowing a foreign power to gain a foothold from which to expand is no longer sensible militarily!.

Did you know that China also temporarily pushed into Vietnam in 1979, after America withdrew, to tame Vietnamese and Russian expansionism in the region!?

Did you know that China also fought a war against Russia in the 1980s during the Russia-Afganistan war, and in so doing, fought as an indirect, unintentional ally of America!? The Sino-Russo conflict helped America because it tied down several Russian divisions!.

China does what is in China's interests!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

We are one of the nations classified as capitalist(vs!. socialist, dictatorial, communist etc!.)!. After everything settled, China is known to be a communist nation!. So, naturally it will help the nations or future nation after the ongoing revolution settles down that would subscribe to the same philosophy!. The same reason they helped North Vietnam when the war was going on!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

China did not want a conflict with the US!. They had just won their civil war in 1949 and needed time to recover!. They warned the US against adventurism and getting too ambitious after MacArthur crushed the North Korean Army in the fall of 1950!.
They simply could not tolerate a UN army on their border!.
The US should have left a rump state in the northern part of North Korea, say above the narrow waist of the peninsula as a buffer state!. That would have been wiser for everyone!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

China has only been Communist since 1949, and the US didn't "save" China--the US acted in its own best interests!. Pearl Harbor, anyone!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

McArthur allowed U!.S!. forces to cross the border and as a newly sovereign nation China could not tolerate such an encroachment and thus the 'Police Action'!.
