Question: St Petursburg - Autumn 1917!?
When the Bolsheviks seized power in Autumn 1917, and attacked the Winter Palace, was the capital city St Petersburg and was it called St Petersburg or had it had it's name changed for whatever reason!? Thanks!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

St Petersburg had been renamed Petrograd in 1914, as St Petersburg sounded too German!.
The Bolsheviks moved the capital to Moscow in 1918, because the the Interventionalist could have taken the city quite easily!.

The Revolution of 1905 initiated here and spread rapidly into the provinces!. Yes, it was still the capital!. During the war they had changed the name to Petrograd to make it sound less German!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
