Question: Why were the Southern Colonies opposed to the Navigation Acts!?
I've been asked to write a "letter to the editor" about Southern opposition to the Navigation Acts set down by the British!. I've checked my history book, wikipedia, and Google!. None of these sources have any information on why the South might have opposed the Acts!. Thank you for any assistance you might be able to give!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Great question, and I gave you a star for it!

As I remember, the Navigation acts basically were forcing the Colonies to trade with England only!. In the South, trade had developed with the Caribbean (Spain, France, Holland)!. The Navigation acts made imports (Sugar mainly) very expensive, and likewise limited the ability to market their own goods!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
