Well the reconstruction in the South caused continuing unrest between the North and South!. also, the slaves were freed so many migrated to the Northern cities and contributed to the Harlem Renaissance there!. Southern economy declined because of the loss of free labor, but sharecropping sprouted up!. also, there was a mass migration to the West and North to escape the devastating effects from the Civil War in the South!.
Hope this helps; Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

The South was deeply in 'debt'!. This was especially hard on the former plantation owners, without slave work and none of the luxuries the were used to (but lots of them went away in the war anyway)!.

The free slaves did not live happily!. Many of them were forced to work on their former plantation still, and those who ran away were sometimes killed!. The money barely affected them; it was such a small sum!.

The North kind of tried to take control of the South!. Many 'yankee schoolmarms' came down there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
