Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Coltranes answer is ridiculous, NATO had nothing to do with Vietnam!. Korea was a victory, we fought for the 38th Parallel and got it!. If you are going to speculate about history, just read Harry Turtledove!. OR the What If series (written by more serious authors)!. To go back to the revolution, if it had failed then Germany would have won WWI - why!? because with no real rival (no french revolution to rise Napoleon) the empire would become stagnant and not keep up its imperial power!. A society which doesnt undergo change is stagnant and doomed to failure!. Vietnam was a Cold War response to the anti-colonial movement in Asia!. America already fought to a stalemate in Korea!. It went into Vietnam because the French defeat there was a vicious blow to capitalism, and NATO!. The US sought to restore the Wests prestige, but got its butt kicked, too!. You cannot do the IF thing with history when it comes to events that changed the world!. For beginners, there would be no American Civil War, since the true beginnings of the War Between the States had more to do with a state's rights vs!. a strong Federal Government!. The effects in Europe would also be felt, since, the success of the American Revolution helped inspire the French Revolution, and others!.Www@QuestionHome@Com You could make one single historical change and write a book speculating on how history would be different!.
