Question: What would be the equivalent of an ancient Greek obol in current dollars!?
I'm not asking how much an ancient obol is worth, I'm wondering how much it was worth at the time in comparison to how much a dollar is worth now!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, a obol was 1/6 of a drachma!. A drachma was about a day's salary for a person!. So you can say it was 1/6 of a day's labor!. So if you work a 9-5 job, it would worth be a little more than a hour's worth of work!. Its impossible to be more specific due to the above mentioned changes and abandonment of the gold standard!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The changes to society and the abandonment of the gold standard mean we just can't answer this!. The best I can suggest is that you have a look at some prices and wages in ancient Greece and try to compare them to the conterparts today!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
