Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: This was a "return' salute used by Adolf Hitler and a handful of top SS brass !. It was simply a "lazy man`s" version of the regular Nazi S!.S!. salute !. BTW !.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. this salute was used only by the S!.S!. !.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. The regular German armed forces and regular officers used the traditional salute most forces of the world use !. Some say the reason Hitler used this salute was because he had only partial use of his hand , and couldn`t salute the way it was intended !. It`s true he had a problem with his hand , but whether it was serious enough to cause him to salute that way is debatable !.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com (based on what I've seen in documentaries and such) i think this salute was most often used when people were in close carters, like inside, or anywhere where it would be awkward to, or there is a lack of space to do the proper salute!. also, it seems that it was a sort of "receiving" salute from Hitler, as i believe he did it more often than anyone else; for example, if someone were to give him the normal salute, in return he would do the salute you are talking aboutWww@QuestionHome@Com It was just a variant; Hitler often did the salute with his bent up from the elbow, with the palm of his hand bent back towards his shoulder!.
