Question: Question: How did World War II start!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Hitler invaded Poland on 1 September 1939!.

Britain and France had promised to defend Poland (March 31 1939)!. They therefore issued an ultimatum to Germany, telling the Germans to stop attacking Poland!.

The Germans ignored the ultimatum!. Therefore, on 3 September 1939, Britain and France declared war on Germany, starting World War II!.

The British and France had guaranteed Poland because the Germans had invaded Czechoslovakia (March 1939)!. By invading Czechoslovakia, Hitler violated the Munich Agreement (October 1938)!. This proved that he was a serial aggressor who could not be stopped using peaceful methods!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Most people date WWII from the German invasion of Poland on 9/1/39!. The Soviet Union invaded Poland from the other side two weeks later, pursuant to their agreement with the Germans, but no western powers declared war on the Soviet Union because Germany was a big enough bite to chew!.

Some people date the beginning of the war as early as 1931 when Japan invaded Manchuria, or 1937 when they attacked the rest of China!.

What the Germans did to attempt to justify their invasion of Poland was to fake a Polish attack on a German radio station near the border!. They took some convicts, dressed them in Polish uniforms and shot them, and left them lying around the radio station for a photo opportunity!. No one outside Germany was fooled!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well if you really wanted to go in depth, you could trace it all back to Bismark ( I pin most of the blame on him)!.

Anyways, after WWI, the German people were vulnerable and needed a strong leader to lead them away from the humiliation of WWI!. Unfortunately, that leader ended up being Adolf Hitler!.

He then began to build the military (which had been almost totally dismantled after WWI) and began making territorial advances in Europe (before Poland)!.

First he moved forced back into the Rhineland, an area along the border with Belgium!. In doing so, he was in direct violation of the Treaty of Versailles (rebuilding the military went against the treaty as well)!. After moving forces back into the Rhineland, there was little to no opposition to the move by other European powers at the time!.

Second, Germany and Italy formed the Rome-Berlin Axis!. Not long after that, Germany and Japan signed the Anti-Comintern Pact to counter the threat of communism in the Soviet Union!. Italy would join this about a year later!.

Third, in March of 1938, Germany annexed Austria with very little opposition from other European powers!.

Forth, Hitler moved military forces into the Sudetenland, that is, Western Czechoslovakia!. Which led to the full occupation of Czechoslovakia by the Germans!.

Fifth, in 1939, Germany invaded Poland which led to Britain and France, as well as 53 other countries declaring war on Germany!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

WWII started when Hitler and his Nazi government broke the conditions of the Treaty Of Versailles as marched troops into Rhineland, Declared Anshluss (union of Germany and Austria), and invaded Poland using his Blitzkrieg tactics!. Before invading Poland, Germany signed the Nazi-Soviet pact with the USSR to make sure that they didn't attack each other!.

Immediately after he invaded Poland, Britain and France declared war on Germany!. That is how WWII startedWww@QuestionHome@Com

Hitler invaded Poland and pissed off Britain!. You'd think that Poland wouldn't matter, but the British seemed to care!. also, before that Japan invaded China!. The US only came into the war when Pearl Harbor was bombed!. But we should have seen that coming, what with all the crazy sanctions on Japan and all!Www@QuestionHome@Com
