Well, if it is the earliest traces of mankind, then the earlist Archaeological finds of Human, or human linked skeletons and fossils have been found in what is now Ethiopia and Tanzania!. There is also evidence from China, Central Asia and Indonesia of very early man!.

If you are talking about the earlist Civilisation, then that is undoubtedly Mesopotamia, followed by Egypt and Asia Minor!.

From 3300BC The Sumerians of Mesopotamia invented Writing, Mathematics, The Wheel, Beer, Schools, Astronomy, Advanced Farming and Medicine,First Advanced City States, The Calendar, all before the Egyptians, and the Assyrians and Babylonians who absorbed them carried this on further!.

Even before the invention of writing, it is fairly clear from Archaeology, that the people living in The Fertile Crescent/Mesopotamia were in advance of the rest of Mankind from as far back as around 8000BC!.

The descendants of the Ancient Mesopotamians STILL EXIST in modern Iraq, they are the Aramaic speaking Assyrian Christians, a 5% minority in Iraq!.

RE ARABIA - Arabia had little to do with early man, and also little to do with early civilisation!.

At the time of the Great Civilisations such as Sumeria, Assyria, Babylon, Egypt, Aramea, Canaan/Phoenicia, Hittites etc there were no Arabs in the areas these people inhabited!.!.Arabs actually only arrived as a majority in places like Iraq, Syria,Egypt, Lebanon, Israel/Palestine, Libya, Algeria, Tunisia, Jordan, Morocco in the 7th Century AD!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Human life originated in Africa!.

If I'm not mistaken, the archaeological evidence you are speaking about corresponds to the mid/upper-paleolithic!. There IS evidence of the presence of man at an early age in the North of Africa and the Middle East (check the Turkana boy, for instance), but the earliest (by a difference of more than 3 million years) -and the origins- are in Africa (the Rift Valley, as many mentioned before)!.

There is still much to research, but all of the lines of enquiry to
support this theory point strongly to Africa!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Human life originated in the Garden of Eden!. Some archeologists and theologians believe it was located in what is now Egypt due to hints such as the passage in Genesis that refers to the rivers that flowed out of the Garden!. Among them are the Tigris and Euphrates which still exist today!. Both of those are located in northern Africa in what was once the Egyptian empire!. Present day Egypt is smaller than it used to be!. The empire ranged across much of northern Africa and spilled into the Middle East a bit!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The earliest finds of human presence [that is, something that was sophisticated enough to build a fire] are traces of a camp in Namibia [apparently]!. They also found a spot where somebody had scratched a rudimentary pattern parallel horizontal lines crossed by parallel vertical lines, as if someone was doodling!.

Good question!Www@QuestionHome@Com

it's called the fertile crescent!.!.!. from the nile in egypt, trace a line up throught israel and the holy land to the top of the Tigris & Euphrates rivers, down to the Persian Gulf!.

these two centers of civilization (egypt and mesopotamia) were connected by highways that went through Isreal, because Israel is the only land that connects Eurasia and AfricaWww@QuestionHome@Com

The oldest example of Homo Sapien is actually found in a cave in the Cape province in South Africa!. Most archaeologists and anthropologists agree that human beings originated in Africa and then spread out across the world!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Saw a wonderful show on the Discovery or PBS channel on this subject!. The team of scientists traced DNA back to Africa and from doing DNA tests they determined that man went north & east towards the Arabian peninsula & onwards hugging the coastline to Russia & China; while others headed north towards southern Europe, Turkey, etc!. It was so interesting because of the DNA connectionsWww@QuestionHome@Com
