Much more cost effective and profitable to salt the border with crumbs and have the people walk accrossed!. Than buying people from the Africans loading them into a ship bringing them over and nursing them back to health before selling them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Of course he knew!. One of the reasons he resisted freeing the slaves until late in the war was because he knew the North would feel the impact of all that cheap labor!.

For your information, the US was not importing slaves by then!. The slave trade between Africa and the US ended before 1850!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

To equate Mexican immigrants to black American slaves is shameful!. It trivializes the evil and injustice of slavery, and it is a gross exaggeration if not a degrading insult to those who voluntary enter the US!. Are Mexicans being beaten and dragged across the US border!?

A little bit of history about immigration and Mexico would be useful!. Mexicans did not come to the US until after the Mexican Revolution!.--20th c!. By 1924, the national quota came into force, limiting annual immigration to 2% of the number legally residing in the US in 1890, which was just about none outside the former Mexican territories the US had acquired!. The Great Depression resulted in a large scale deportaion of Mexicans, a policy reversed under the manpower shortages in WW 11!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Um!.!.!.!. the demand for cheap dependable labor can be reduced if folks like you would get out of the basement and do the jobs on the folks south of the border are willing to perform for such little pay!. Believe it or not, but their standard of living goes up when they take those jobs!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

He only did that to win the war, and only freed slaves in the south!. (Maryland still had slavery)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
