Question: Robert and Ethel Kennedy beliefs!?
Im not sure how to ask this without sounding perverted but we were learning about catholic Beliefs in Religious Ed and the topic of sexual intercourse came up and so did the name of RFK and Ethe and some of us were wondering that if Ethel did it stricly for the children, why did she have 11 i mean did they ever do it for pleasure and i mean they had 11, COULD IT HAVE BEEN THAT BAD!!? im not perverted but im a little confused on this subject!. please dont be rude! Well, they were in love and I think it could have been for both reasons, but no one will really know because that's between Ethel and Bobby!. I think they were in love with each other and they wanted to express their love by having a large family!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
Why should she not have had eleven children!? Take a look at her lifestyle!. They had buckets of money, tons of hired help, and she quite literally didn't have to do anything but produce the children!. Once they were born, there were nannies and governesses and housemaids and cooks and gardeners and a whole plethora of personnel to keep things going smoothly, which left Ethel with lots of time to do her good deeds and good works and socialize to her heart's content!.
And if she and her husband 'enjoyed' it - that wasn't against God's commandment!. That was a sanctified bond between married couples!. Nowhere in the catechism does it say you can't enjoy it!. What it says is that you can't do it strictly for pleasure - in other words, you can't do it with so much protection that there is no chance whatsoever of reproduction!. The prime function of intercourse is reproduction - I think everyone agrees with that - but that isn't the only function!.
You need to talk about this a bit more with your teacher, or with someone in the Catholic community, because the information you have been given is skewed!.
