After all they must be doing something right!. The highest Ace was Richard Bong with 40 and McGuire was right behind him with 38!. They were pulled from combat and sent back home to sell war bonds and train new pilots in combat skills!.Www@QuestionHome@Com US pilots in WWII did 40 or so missions and then went home to train other pilots!. They didn't get the chance to fly literally thousands of sorties like Galland or Moelders, who flew until the war ended or they died!
