Question: Would the world unite if!.!.!.!? (more info!.!.!.)!?
Would the world unite if we all had a common enemy!. I know that Countries have united together to fight off another country (e!.g!. during the World Wars), but would the World unite if, for example, there was a threat to our species as a whole (say an alien invasion (independence day) or a cmet (deep impact))!. In the movies mentioned the world did unite, would thyis really happen!? Can we put our differences aside!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is a pretty good question!. I think an immediate threat, such as a collision or an invasion by extraterrestrials might unite the world in a common cause!.

Global warming is a more gradual process!. Mind you, I believe it is happening, and right now, the second 500 year flood in 15 years is a good indication that the weather has gone kerflooey!.

Maybe we could turn history around and include this question in this category, or perhaps it could start a category called

Y R O T S I H

(I guess that would be pronounced Why Rotsee)

In the old Science Fiction movies, the aliens always land and ask to be taken to our leader!.

We really don't have one, you know!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

If all civilizations had a common enemy, the possibility of a united earth exists!. The likely hood that any such event would take place is remote in the extreme!. Nations have bonded together in the face of a common enemy, but such alliances have proved to be unions of convenience and have not resulted in permanent bonds!. Remember; Russia was our ally in WW II!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think so-we are currently facing a threat to our (and every other) species on Earth called global warming, but we are still bickering about what reductions should be made and by which countries!. We'll still be bickering as the tide laps against the foundations of the UN Building!.

If hostile aliens arrived, my bet is some groups who ally with them to beat up their earthly enemies-like the native American tribes that joined with the Europeans to crush their neighbours or the various Scottish clans that would join with any faction in English politics as long as it meant they got to hack into their traditional rivals!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

interesting question!.!.!.
The world has already united to combat intl!. problems like global warming / enviornment destruction / etc!.
So technically yes, but then again, despite such problems, countries like the US, China, and other industrialized nations still continue to cause the problem, so the problee solving is not entirely unfied!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you put two enemies, who value their lives, together in an open boat, in the middle of a storm, in the open seas, they will almost certainly help each other (unless their stupid)!. What happens after they help each other is a different story!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I personally do not think so!. For example North and South Korea, they hate each other!. If they didn't there would only be a Korea!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't believe that this is a question for the History Category!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
