I think Turkey (especially Constantinople)!. No other location can boast of being a part of so many empires!. You can see Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, and Muslim art there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

of todays small countries
Puerto Rico is one with the richest history

Great question!. It is so hard to chose one, isn't it!? So many peoples have had moments of great glory!. And so many have had epochs of struggle and pain!. And even times of trouble are part of a people's rich history!.

Russia has a fascinating history!. So does China!. And India!. And Persia (Iran)!. The U!.S!. is just too young to even make the list!.

But for me, for the richest set of interesting stories and fascinating characters, my vote goes to France!. From the court of Charlemagne to the fall of Bonaparte, what a story!. The endless conflicts with England and Spain!. The terrible wars with Prussia and Germany!. The literature of Hugo, Balzac and Voltaire!. The dream of Rousseau!. The imagination of Jules Verne!. Gastronomy at the very pinnacle of excellence!. The gaudy rococco of the late Bourbons!. A King who became a Saint!. And a saintly woman warrior who was burned at the stake!. The sheer audacity of l'empereur!. The schism!. The Crusades!. A revolution that rocked the world!.

America - the U!.S!. has a short, but completely unique and fascinating history that is extremely relevant today in understanding current events!. Italy has one of the longest and most varied histories of any country in the world!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Britain, with been invaded by the romans, the french, we've conquered a quater of the world, we're the home of democracy, pax britannica, the industrial revolution, scramble for africa, suez crisis, napoleonic wars etc!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think Africa does because we all came from there and spread out!. Unfortunately not much is known about its rich history because they remained tribal for so long (and some parts still are)!. The history that we do know is folklore!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
