The ME 163 was the first and only one in use - An evaluation unit, Erprobungskommando 16 (EK16) was established in February 1943
But the first ever to fly was the HE 176, in 1939

The known rocket fighters, only one of which was ever used, were :
- Bolkholvitinov BI (Russia)
- Heinkel HE-176 (German)
- Messerschmitt ME-163 KOMET (German)
- Mitsubishi Shusui (Japanese clone of the ME-163)
- Bachem BA-349 Natter (German)
- Messerschmitt ME-263 - a follow up of the 163

They all proved that rocket propelled fighter was not a good idea!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Me 163, also known as the Komet!. The fastest aircraft produced during WW2!. Possibly the most dangerous to fly, also as the pilot effectively sat on a firework and hoped for the best!. It wasn't much use in combat, mainly because it had a very limited endurance - all the fuel it could carry was used up in a matter of minutes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
