Virginia official records 1827 chap!. 139 Jefferson's will begged the Virginia legislature to let 5 of his mulatto children stay in the state Burwell, Joe Fessel,Joe Hemmings, Madison and Eston Hemmings the last three are by black Sally!. Further moor it was well known many more of Jeffersons slaves were his own kidsWww@QuestionHome@Com

There is no evidence to support that rumor, but what is known is that Sally Hemmings was the property of his wife, Martha and was the daughter of his father in law and one of his slaves!. Sally Hemmings was close in age to Jefferson's daughter, and was her childhood companion!. She accompanied Jefferson and his daughter to Paris, and was treated almost like family!. It has been guessed that Jefferson's sister's son who was also near the same age as the two girls may have fathered her children!. DNA testing cannot prove or disprove which man was the biological ancestor of the decedents of Sally Hemmings!. Both Jefferson and his nephew share DNA traits because they are descended from the same line!.

Thomas Jefferson, like most politicians, had enemies!. Among them was the editor of a newspaper in Richmond that spread the rumor about him fathering children with his black "mistress" but members of the family deny that ever happened!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Affter his death, he freed all the Hemmings children!. Sally, the lady who has gotten so much attention these last 40 years, and her brother James, who accompanied Jefferson to Philadelphia in 1776, among them!.

Sally and James were the children of a lady named Hemmings and Mrs!. Jefferson's father!. They had received the family as an inheritance!. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Sally and Patsy Jefferson didn't bear a resemblance!. This might have affected the widowed Jefferson's judgement!. The stories I've heard was that the thing with Sally started in Paris, in the 1780s!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There is no proof that Sally Hemings was freed by Jefferson when he died!. Jefferson was deeply in debt at the time and had to sell most of the slaves that he had!. He freed a few families and gave some of the other slaves to his daughter!. Sally had 5 children by him!. It appears that she was able to keep her children!. A few biographies at the time said in letters that the first son at least looked like Jefferson!. Jefferson never confirmed that Sally was his mistress!. She and her children were buried in the slave cemetery at MonticelloWww@QuestionHome@Com

Sally Hemmings was 3/4 white herself, and was related to Jefferson's wife!. She apparently was very fair!. When Jefferson died, she and her family were given freedom and most moved away from Monitcello!. Most of the family stayed "black" as they lived in the south and even a drop of black blood was considered black!. A few of the descendents lived as whites!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

first off, jeremy is an imbecile!.

sally hemmings was jefferson's wife's slave!. she was also her half sister, by her father and one of her father's slaves!. the two women looked nearly identical, although sally was slightly darker!. when jefferson's wife died, he inherited sally, and treated her as a wife!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The descendants of ONE of Sally Hemmings' children have the Jefferson family DNA!. That's known!. The exact father has not been proven!.

Thomas Jefferson granted Sally and her children freedom for his own reasons!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

He slept with her but she didnt appear black!. She was white on the outside!.

As for the children, I believe she kept them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
