You mean Gallipoli!?
Basically getting an army off a beach with the enemy just up the hill is militarily a very difficult undertaking: when the men get on the boats they are very vulnerable to artillery or to being attacked, and usually the whole army would have to be surrendered or wiped out!.
To bring this successful evacuation off, the British and Australians used ruses to make it look like 'business as usual'!. Because the whole evacuation occurred with almost no casualties, it is seen as a great success and the only well thought-out part of the Gallipoli campaign!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, you could start with writing about the preparation for the evacuation from Gallipoli; making the guns that would fire after a certain amount of time, by using water dripping from one tin to another which was connected to the trigger!. You can also talk about how the evacuation itself took place on one night, and was so succesful that only two men were injured!. The Turks woke up the next morning to find the entire ANZAC beachead deserted!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
