I haven't read the book, but the problem between Hamilton and Burr was political!. Hamilton was a Federalist and Burr was a Democratic-Republican!. There were some private letters leaked to a newspaper, public speeches by suporters that criticized the other, etc!., eventually leading to a duel!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

"Duel!" by Thomas Fleming is an excellent detailed history of the Burr-Hamilton rivalry, if you are so inclined!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
