Quite a lot, indirectly!. The tsar's wife believed that Rasputin had the power to keep her hemophiliac son alive--and history reports that he did at least seem to possess this power!. Because of this, Rasputin was also able to advise the tsar!. Russia was undergoing turmoil at the time!. The war was not popular and the socialists were gaining in power!. Tsar Nicholas was advised to cater to the people!. Rasputin, however, gave Nicholas the opposite advice, which Nicholas followed, eventually resulting in his downfall!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

He was regarded as a bad influence at court because it was believed that his influence over the Tsarina gave him the Emperor's ear!.

In fact, the regime was rotting all by itself because it could not reconcile authoritarian traditions with the democratic and leftist trends arising among the urban bourgoisie and proletariat!. Plus, let's face it, Russia had lost the wars with the Turks, the Crimea, the one with Japan!.!.!. and they lost their part of WWI, that alone would have been enough to precipitate the fall!.

As Svartalf said, Rasputin never really had that much power, and the whole Tsarist regime was rotting from the core outwards!. Rasputin was just one of the visible signs of the decay!. The Tsar' & Tsaritsa were vain, stupid and closed to the idea of reform!.
The catalyst for the downfall was WWI, without the war the regime may have limped on for a few more years, but it probably would have fallen sooner rather than later!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
