Question: What do you think of Dr Zahi Hawass!?
I think Dr Hawass knows alot more about the Pyramids and their secrets than he admits to, but wants to keep it all to himself and relish in self gratification and being in control!.
What do you think!?
Why can't other eminent scientists dig and explore in the area without Dr!. Hawass interfering and stopping digs when they seem to find something interesting, coincidence!?!? I think not!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I disagree, I think he knows next to nothing!. He's an amateur archaeologist who has done more to harm Egyptian heritage than any single man since Napoleon!. He's not a scientist, he's a looter, and he intentionally distorts the archaeological record to increase his own fame and standing!. He grossly misuses his position to prevent actual learning in Egypt!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree with you!. By the way, this topic has been discussed frequently in the "Travel>Egypt" section!. Dr Hawass is not popular with Egyptians on this site!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

is he the one that comes on the discovery program all the time

looks to me like hes got all the power and tells people if they can dig or not

Don't know about his self-gratification but other than that he might be doing his job!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi Rose,
I know of no other man more qualified and has done more to protect Egyptian Heritage and Artifacts then Dr!. Hawass!.
Dr!. Hawass's sway matches that of any pharaoh, and his influence does not stop at Egypt's borders!. He says things that can rattle teeth and raise dust in Berlin, New York and London, especially when he starts asking for his mummy back - the royal corpse of Rameses I was returned from Atlanta - or the bust of Queen Nefertiti from Germany, or the Rosetta Stone, key to the mystery of the hieroglyphs, now in the British Museum!.
He has done this in the face of a 4,000-year-old tradition of tomb robbery, a thriving black market in Egyptian artefacts, and leaking sewers and a rising water table that threaten tombs that have survived 4,500 years; not to mention five million tourists a year, each exhaling an ounce of moisture inside tomb and temple, centuries of bureaucratic inertia, a bit of hostility from some Western scholars and, of course, a cadre of New Age theorists convinced the pyramids were put up by extraterrestrials or that each open tomb invokes an ancient curse!.
"We are the only ones who really can care about the preservation," he says!. "Foreigners who come to excavate, maybe some of them care about preservation, but the majority care about discoveries!. I made these new rules: if you come and discover a tomb, you should preserve it, you should do the conservation, don't give it to me to do"!.
For me the man is a Hero!. Long me he be allowed to continue what he does best; Guardian Of Egyptian Heritage!.
