Ofcourse some of these Civilizations have some techology not known to the Europeans, but the Europeans were ultimatley more advamced!. Why weren't these civilizations as advanced as them or close to them!. I mean they all barley put up a fight against the Europeans!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: A combination of factors!. Geography/geology!. Availability of certain resources, from staple grains to feed people to domesticated animals, especially large animals to use for labor, to metals like tin and copper and iron!. Geography would determine if it was practical to make ships or boats capable of going to sea, or even navigating rivers!. You also had to have the right types of trees for this!. You have to have the right neighbors, with trade and cultural exchanges, so that ideas could fermet and bear fruit!. Again, with geography difficult to do!. Then you have to have the right cultural mindset!. A society that values stability over all else deters experimentation and innonvation!. Even the Chinese, who invented gunpowder, failed to follow through with that discovery and apply it militarily!. Too unstable a culture though, and the needs of survival make it hard to carry through with new ideas!. Finally, Europe, Asia, and north Africa all had cultures where literacy was a central part of their civilizations, even if literacy was nowhere universal!. This permitted the transmission of both facts and ideas to future generations!. While the Pre-Columbian cultures had a method of writing, they lacked some of the other componants!. In short, it was like the sinking of the Titanic!. For the Titanic to have sunk, dozens of factors big and small had to come together to cause it!. Likewise, for European and Asian cultures to have "advanced" as quickly as they did required similiar chains of conditions to form!. a religoius person might say "God willed it", a non religous person might say " it was luck"!. That means they came from Asia, but why!? If we knew why, and when, we might be able to answer that!. What we see as advanced may not be what they saw, or see, as advanced!. And not all countries have the same resources that allow people to advance in the same forms!. i!.e!.
