Question: Did you know that Canadians have to pay a tax to the queen of England when they sell furs!?
I mean the Canadians that hunt & sell the furs!. Why is that!? It doenst make sense to me that when they sell the fur of an animal that was in THEIR country that they should have to pay a tax on it to some old lady in England!. That is absurd! I know about the British empire & everything, but that empire is long gone!. All that's left are a bunch of sheep on the Falklands and a few minor islands in the Caribbean!. So why should Canadians have to pay that ridiculous tax!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

You are mistaken or have been misinformed by a joker!. There is no tax levied in Canada that is then passed to anyone in the United Kingdom!. The monarch no longer exercises any ownership over property or wildlife in Canada!.

Until 1948, the UK Crown Agents received compensation from the Canadian government for its capital works in the wilderness areas, including provision of safety/rescue cabins, bridges and pathways, forestry plantations and so on!. That compensation was raised from levies on the trapping of pelts, commercial catches of fish and some logging!. I suppose, in a sense, that could have been regarded as a Canadian tax paid to the British government!. No such compensation has been has been paid for the past 60 years!.

Most of the former British colonies enjoy these sorts of stories as if to cast doubt upon British integrity in the process of decolonisation!. It's a kind of good natured mischief-making on the part of former colonies against the home country, from which they trace their origins!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Queen is the Head of the Commonwealth, of which Canada is part, and, indeed she is the Queen of Canada still!. And no one pays a tax to her anyway, at least not in a personal capacity!. If there is a tax on furs in Canada it will be paid to the Canadian Government, just as taxes in the UK are paid to the UK Government despite the fact that the Queen is resident hereWww@QuestionHome@Com

Canada is a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy, with Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Time to brush up on your own country's constitution!. Taxes levied in Canada do not find their way over to the UK!. We don't want a Quebec Fur party on our hands!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

only because Canada did not break free!.!.!.but was granted independance!. There is still some work to do!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
