Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: The United States and Rome both of governing powers spread out so far that they had isolated their people from a feeling of union and solidarity in thought and beliefs!. Rome had become too dependant on slaves & outside merchandise and were no longer self-sufficient, they received a great percentage of the goods and services from outside lower-level citizenry of poorer countries on the fringes of the Empire!. This contributed greatly to their downturn!. Sounds familiar!?--U!.S!. Out-sourcing, imports from China and others Countries!? also the introduction of Christianity, pacifist theology changed military strongholds and infiltration by Barbarians who had no loyalty and worked more like mercenaries therefore weakened the Empire!. Much like what is happening with our far-extreme left liberalism and the saturation of illegal aliens who will be the first to depart in the event of a national problem!. These close comparisons are signs that we are very vulnerable to collapse as a result!.Www@QuestionHome@Com In Rome: The Senate consisted mostly of cowardly men who cared more for wealth and recognition than law, would stab and destroy any who had noble intentions, bribed the masses to win elections, married / married off the women strictly for political gain, believed the common man was beneath them, passed laws to suit their needs or fulfill promises to merchants to increase their profits, stiffed the military of pay quite a bit, made exorbitant loans with incredibly high interest then siezed the property, accused good folk of breaking the law in order to seize their property and buy it from the government for less than half of what it was worth, and quite a few of them were homosexuals that kept "man servants" around for thier needs, since the women were only property!. In America; See above!.Www@QuestionHome@Com We have reached the heights of corruption known in Rome, our lanquage and morals our deteriorating, were trying to dominate the globe with business and armies in the most ugliest of fashions and unless we quit were fortunately going to fall like Rome!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Most of the similarities are going to be found in the governments and the way each is run!. Mainly the people electing their political representatives and those representatives voting on various issues!.
