As happens today, greed took over and the resultant years of fighting and disturbances were as a result of the British troops being called in, as well as recruitment of some locals!. Lots of the troops were Indians, there were'nt so many british soldiers available!. The only reason the British were able to occupy india was because the local Landlords, and Rajas helped them!. Otherwise the no of troops in the british is miniscule compared to the population of India!.

They used troops to defend themselves in India!. Once the tea plantations, and cotton plantation were set up the slave labor began!. They did not have to fight with the locals they just forced them to work the plantations!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
