American colonists had developed more freedom than any group of people before or since!. They disliked the British Parliament enacting laws that they felt infringed upon their freedom!. Merchants and those associated with commerce did not want restrictions placed upon their clandestine trade with other nations!. Americans were content to allow local, colonial assemblies to pass the needed laws!.
