Between 1789 and 1802 France was wracked by a revolution which radically changed the government, administration, military and culture of the nation as well as plunging Europe into a series of wars!. France went from a largely feudal state under an absolutist monarch to a republic which executed the king and then to an empire under Napoleon Bonaparte!.

People invovled include: King Louis XVI, Jean-Paul Marat, Maximilien Robespierre, and of course, Napoleon Bonaparte!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The French Revolution was a time of uprising, bloodshed, war and "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity"!. It swept away the old order, and imposed a relatively democratic government on France!.

Main people involved: King Louis XVI, Queen Marie-Antoinette, Necker (Financial minister), General Lafayette, Marat, Robespierre, Danton, Napoleon (but not till later)!.
