Question: Why did the Army used to put "little kids" on actual battlefields (bullets flying, explosions) to beat a drum!?

well!.!. back then, you were an adult at 13 or so, plus, everyone else was more useful carrying a gun, so why not have the little kid beat the drum!?

Probably because children were always sucked into wars because there weren't enough adult males!. Kids were also used to bring refills for artillery (powder, bullets, that sort of thing)!. Been done since at least the Middle Ages, as I know the Roman Army did not use children, not because they held them more dear, but because an untrained solder was considered a liability on the battlefield!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
