Many invention wouldn't have been given a chance to be invented without the ability to conquer and protect with gunpowder!.

Gunpower lead to firearms which lead to rockets which lead to both space and the first general purpose computer!.

The piston engine WAS the most important!. As much as the personal computer has changed life over the last two decades or so, it still does not compare to the changes wrought over a century by the piston engine!. Gunpowder is the other contender!.!.!.hmm!.!.!.maybe gunpowder!.!.!.couldn't have WWI or WWII without gunpowder!.!.!.and Asia would culturally be much less influenced by the West!.!.!.the Americas would still have been conquered by Europeans, however!.

Things would not have have turned out the way they have without
gunpowder!. They might have turned out better and the other things on the list might contribute more to human advancement but I think Gunpowder has had the greatest influence on the world, and not just because it has been around a lot longer!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
