The platform for the US bombing of North Viet Nam and South Viet Nam was the US B-52 "Stratofortress or Buffalo" (70,000 lbs)!. This air craft is capable of carrying many more times the payload of the B-17 "Flying Fortress" (9,600 lbs!.), the B-24 "Liberator" (8,000 lbs), and the B-25 "Mitchell" (6,746 lbs)!. They outclass even the B-29 "Superfortress" (20,000 lbs)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com As the person before me stated the US did launch operation Rolling Thunder!. For months (and really years) North Vietnam, specifically the Ho Chi Minh trail which was the supply route for North Vietnam, was bombed!. However, you must remeber that bombs and technology had greatly advanced during the time between wars!. Thats why bombing was used so much!. People had seen how effective it was during WWII!. I would recommmend the book How We Lost The Vietnam War by Nyugen Cao Ky!. He was former Prime Minister and Vice President of South Vietnam!.
