Question: To what extent does the story of Romulus and Remus sync up with general historian consensus!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Depends which historian you are talking about!. Some have slightly different stories of them!. However, they were real people, they did really found the City of Roma (although it was a collection of villages, they built defences around it and made it one place) and Romulus did really kill Remus brutally!.

However, Roma wasn't named after Romulus!. It was originally named Ruma as a joke by a trader who had gone to the village market to buy some salt!. Ruma, back then, meant woman's breast, and things along those lines!. The trader called it Ruma because that part of the Tiber had seven hills, as you know, so was like a hilly region, or woman's breasts!.

Overtime the name was mispronounced and became Roma!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The story of Romulus and Remus is just that, a story!. However, it intention was to give the Roman Empire a good mythological story to tell of its beginnings!. They wanted to let both their people and the rest of the world know that they were a force to be reckoned with!.
Indeed, for many, many years, the famous brothers kept fear and awe in the hearts of the people!. Their story added to the Roman ability to become such a powerful empire!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
