Australia followed the music trends of the US and Britain, the role of Oz groundbreakers like The Saints and Radio Birdman were forgotten in a wave of impported punk, new wave and (gag) new romantics!. Culture Club and assoted gender bender copycats were hugely popular, as well as smarmy sickly sweet WHAM, with their "choose life" T shirts!.
