Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
History repeats itself because the fundamental nature of humanity never changes!. Greed, competition, power!. It doesn't matter if it was the building of empires dating as far back to Egyptians and to the current modern day empires, the rulers are obsessed with the same basic ideals!. We will allways have a world power, and although details may change the basis stays the same!. It is school yard socialism on an adult and global scale!. History will stop being cyclical when the people creating it have the ability to change their natures!. Well anyway, thats what I reckon!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Interesting!.!.!.!.

Cyclical!.!.!.yes, history is that!. Personally, I believe it's because mans wants and desires do not change, just adapt themsleves to differing situations and levels of technology!. For instance, Alexander!. His main goal!? World conquest where everyone acknowledged him as the Great King!. When Alexander started his war, it was supposed to be for the liberation of Greek city-states in Asia Minor!. It later changed to avenging Greeceā€™s defeat by Persia!. Alexander also wanted to outshine Heracles, who was acknowledged as an ancestor, and be compared to Achilles, whom he paid tribute to at Ilium!. Lofty goals for a conqueror bent on creating an empire!. Thousands of years later, lets look at Hitler!. His goals!? And I won't even begin to cover his Anti-Semitism!. Nazi foreign policy, according to Jaeckel, was driven by Hitler's desire for living space in Eastern Europe and Russia!. Hitler felt this territory was essential for feeding an expanding Aryan race!. In Hitler's mind, all history was the continuing struggle of race against race!. Everything possible had to be undertaken to strengthen your race and prepare for war!. He wanted to avenge the crushing defeat that Germany suffered at the hands of the Allies in WW I!. He wanted to create an empire ruled by Aryans!.
Was this really much different from the goals of Alexander!? Not really!. His methods and ideologies were different!.!.!.!.but not his goals!. George III, Stalin, Hirothito, !.!.!.!.they all have the same grandiose schemes of domination, subversion of the unwanted, supremacy, empire!. All achieved in different ways, all using different ideologies, but ultimately all the same goals!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

History is not cyclic, nor is it progressive; history is merely the recording of human behaviours and events!. People act in similar ways to similar situations wherever and whenever they are!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
