France and Britain were the only countries who had the guts to confront Hitler in 1939 and after France was beaten in 1940 Britain stood alone while the USA traded with both sides!. ESSO tankers were used to refuel U-boats in mid Atlantic during 1941
The Soviet Union did not come in until May 1941 and the USA was the last one in December 1941!.
So for continuity you have to hand it to Britain, for material supplies the USA played the biggest part but the best of the German army was destroyed by the Soviet Union!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It was really a colaborative effort!. If any of the major powers were not involved it's very doubtful the Allies would have won!. But if I had to pick one, I would pick the USA, by a narrow margin!. Their influence was not a sharp or dramatic as the others necessarily, but they covered such a huge range of areas and activities!. They provided military support, materiel support, logistical support and political support across the entire globe!. But without the other Allied combatants the US would simply have been cut off and isolated!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It wasn't a contest!. All the participants fought valiantly!. America was fortunate in that it had intact factories and labor force and resources that weren't either occupied or being constantly attacked by bombs!. None of the Allies could have won the war without the others!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
