Vietnam!. The Democratic Republic of Vietnam (called "North Vietnam" for political reasons)!. Vietnam declared its independence in September of 1945, but had to fight the French colonialists, then the French colonialists with U!.S!. support, then the dictator Ngo Dinh Diem and his "nation" called "South Vietnam" with its U!.S!. support!.

Vietnam became an independent country in 1954, but was not unified until April of 1975!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
