Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
First, to provide Israel with the means to defend itself from the surrounding countries!. Second, to insure unhindered access to oil supplies which are vital to our ecomony and national security!. More recently, you could mention Bush's attempt to encourage democracy in the Arab countries!. Part of his rationale for encouraging democracy simply to spread American values!. He also stated that it was more likely to bring peace to the middle east!. He has recently abandoned this effort because it became apparent that American influence was wanning in the area, and also because we have actually benefited from having authoritarian leaders who support our foreign policy control their populations!. This brings us back to the 2 primary objectives: oil & Israel!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

1!. support and preservation of Israel
2!. free access to the regions oil producers
3!. support of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan!.
4!. containment of Iran and prohibiting its development of nuclear weaponsWww@QuestionHome@Com
