It convinced Upper and Lower Canada that the territory out west was worth having in the Canadian confederation and, by bringing hundreds of thousands of eager gold rush miners and the concomitant crew that serviced them, into the Lower Mainland and the Cariboo, they created a booming port and the first road leading to the Interior of BC (The Engineer's trail, from Yale, was built in response to the needs of the Gold Rush)Www@QuestionHome@Com
