Well, the word pantheon is actually used to describe the collection of gods in a polytheistic religion, i!.e!. if you talk about the Greek pantheon you would mention Zeus, Athena, Ares etc!.

The Roman Pantheon if you're talking about the building was in essence a temple dedicated to all of the gods as opposed to one in particular (though there's some debate on that)!. I would imagine the root of the pantheon comes from this temple!.

Though, it's been a Christian church since the 7th century!.

The facade was constructed using Corinthian style columns, and the main body of the temple is domed!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

While apparently built as an omnibus temple to all the gods, the Roman Pantheon was actually a symbol of the power and cultural superiority of the Roman Empire in which all Roman citizens took great pride!. It is also a landmark architectural and engineering achievement that has stood the test of millennia!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
