Half of the people who died for one reason or another resulting from WWII were Russians!. 26 million people in Russia died fighting Germany!. Plus, check out the geography of Russia!.!.!.!. not exactly a seafaring nation!. The only coastal parts of Russia are rather icy!. Most of the populated regions are in the western part of the country!.

Stalin was more concerned about the more populated western part of Russia, as well as keeping himself in power!.

The Russians proved to be very solvent about not allowing the Germans to gain any ground!. Russians burned entire cities and towns to the ground and retreated further east, leaving the Germans in the dead of winter without supplies or fresh food!. The Russians were able to cut off German's supply lines, and it worked to fend off the Germans!.

Germany's attempt to take Russia left it's fronts in other parts of eastern Europe "thin" at best!. Then advances from the west from the US, Canada and England moved in from both directions!. Russia's ability to fight off Germany and starve its armies left Germany vulnerable and allowed for advancement from both sides: Russia and England and France to close in on Germany!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Edit: I might as well step in here!. They did not fight as they had a non-aggression pact with Japan!. The Soviet Union decisively defeated the Imperial Japanese Army when it invaded Manchuria at the Batlle of Khalkhin!. How badly!? The invading force was annihilated and anyone with knowledge of the defeat, beyond the high command, was sworn to silence and mustered out!. Germany was a larger threat!. It was able to hold out against 3 nations, including the Soviet Union despite its numerical superiority!. If it wasn't for Hitler's interference, Germany could have defeated the Soviet Union!. The Soviet Union could have crushed Japan in China due to superior numbers, better armor and tactics!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Russia never entered the Pacific War because japan was not threatening any Russian territory or Russian lives!.

Russian could have begun by attacking the Japanese in Manchuria, and driving the Japanese out of China, whether or not it would have been more "positive" is debatable!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Russians had their hands full with the Germans!. All of their resources went to the eastern front!. As for the Pacific the Russians lost to the Japanese in a war at the beginning of the 1900's!. If they would have been in the Pacific it would have drawn troops that would have been all!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Russians did not enter the Pacific War (early) because they were just barely able to fight off Germany!.

They entered the Pacific War (very late) because they wanted to occupy Japan!. Fortunately that failed!.

They were not very good allies!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Stallen declared war on Japan in the last few weeks of WW2!. Mainly to profit from the spoils of war!. Not much of a Navy to fight anyone!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because Russia was busy rebuilding and recovering from actually fighting battles on their home soil for most of the European war!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It was busy with the Germany!. Stalin had plans for Japan but it got nuked :)Www@QuestionHome@Com
