"Greasers were more like Goths today--misfits with little ambition!." May I suggest that is totally inaccurate!.

Having been one myself!. Greasers were simply those who were not focused on college!. Rather, we were oriented on completing high school, joining the military and going to work, usually in whatever was the predominate manufacturing shops of the locality!.

Most came from working class families and many had farming experiences!. Did we work on cars, yes, and yes we had longer hair and often there was something like VO5 in it!.

Were we dirty, no, and most often far more friendlier than those of the so called elite groups!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In my well-off suburban high school, the greasers were indeed the lowlifes!. They worked on cars, didn't try for grades, wore dark and dirty clothes, and yes, put grease in their longish hair!. In fact I knew some and they were perfectly nice!. They weren't threatening in any way!.
Perhaps most schools have their cliques!. They were just a sort of clique, but certainly not of the sosh crowd!.
I don't remember the words applying to the rockers, who might have bizarre hair, such as Buddy Holly, but were successful and even on the make!. Greasers were more like Goths today--misfits with little ambition!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Diffrent maybe College boy would not have been one !.
