Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Hitler was not overthrown; he committed suicide when defeat was imminent and the new Donitz government surrendered to the Allies!. Then the Nazi government was dismantled, and Germany was split up into occupation zones!.

Regardless, the United Kingdom, United States, and Soviet Union were the "big three" of the Allied Powers!. It was truly an international effort, but those three were the most essential and they led the Allied cause!. Britain was the world's largest imperial power, America was the world's largest economic power, and Russia was the world's largest military power!. Along with China they were known as the "Four Policeman", but the Chinese fought only against Japan, not Nazi Germany!. France would be the fourth major power fighting against the Nazis, but only in 1939 - 1940 and in 1944 - 1945, as France surrendered to Germany in 1940 and then was liberated in 1944!. However, the French Resistance and Free French forces still contributed to the war effort from 1940 - 1944!.

Other major Allied powers were Poland, Yugoslavia, Australia, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, Greece, Czechoslovakia, etc!. By the end of the war, most of the world's nations had joined the Allied effort, which was called the "United Nations" during wartime!. In addition, Britain and France controlled colonies around the world, including almost all of Africa, which contributed greatly in terms of manpower and resources!.

There's a full list of sovereign nations that officially declared war against at least one of the Axis Powers!. Those were almost all of the independent nations in the world in that time period!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

At the beginning in 1939 there were only two who had the guts to stand up to Hitler when he invaded Poland and they were France and Britain (together with the British Empire)!.
France was defeated in 1940 but a large number of their forces managed to get to Britain and continue the fight from there at a later date!.
Until 1941 Britain stood alone and then Germany invaded the Soviet Union in May and Britain and the Soviet Union formed an alliance which was joined by the USA in December 1941 when Hitler declared war on the USA two days after the Japanese had bombed Pearl Harbor!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes, the U!.S and Britain were allies, but who specifically overthrew Hitler would have been the U!.S and the USSR (Russia) for when Germany was defeated the two had been invading from opposite ends (north/south or something) at met in the middle!. So US, Britain, and the USSR!. I'm pretty sure that's all because the "big three" or leaders of the allies were Churchill (Britain), Stalin (Russia), and F!.D!.R (US)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Britain, France and the US were the primary allies!. The British Commonwealth nations were heavily involved as well--Canada, Australia and New Zealand!. Woops, almost forgot Russia!Www@QuestionHome@Com
