Greatest event 1500 to present would be World War II coming to an end!. Without the invention of the nuclear bomb, it is possible that we might still be at war today!. It doesn't matter whether you believe in Christ or not, he affected history more than any single man or event!. Our entire calendar structure is based around his life!. Between 1500-present is more difficult!. I'm tempted to say the 1517 posting of the 95 Theses by Martin Luther, but I'm not fully satisfied with that answer!. I think I would say the 1588 defeat of the Spanish Armada!. Had England been defeated, I would probably be writing this in Spanish today!. The Black Plague!. It wiped out 1/4 to 1/3 of Europe's population, as well as drastically affecting Africa!. The changes it helped bring about set up the conditions which would see European expansion and the modern world!. 1500-present!. The First Man in Space!. This has led to our first fumbling steps on expanding from our home planet to other worlds!.
